The Ards Peninsula
Where to find us
The team behind Evergreen Wood have been providing a playgroup service in the rural village of Greyabbey in various forms for several years. Our service includes children and families from villages the length and breadth of the Ards Peninsula from Newtownards to Portaferry. We are based in the community run Village Hall in Greyabbey on the A20 main road that runs along Strangford Lough just 10 minutes from Newtownards. This makes us ideally placed for parents and carers leaving children to playgroup on their way to work or elsewhere during our morning sessions. The hall has lots of space, kitchen facilities for snack time and also benefits from large green spaces and a secure tennis court for outdoor play.
Our Playschool Setting
Helping Your Child Explore, Grow, & Learn
The open space where we’re based gives us a blank canvas to create exciting experiences for our children to learn in. The setting is divided into play areas with all manner of activities to enjoy. We’ve every day fun with water, sand, a home setting, craft creation, painting, construction and a book corner for story time. We also have an ‘Imagination Area’ where the children decide what they would like to play with inspired by our monthly themes.
Playschool is an amazing time in a child’s life where they begin to build friendships outside their family and discover what the world is all about, all the while forming their own understanding of how to learn and build who they will become. We’re here to help guide children on their early years journey by focusing on six areas of learning designed to give children a foundation to build on.
What Parents are Saying
“My child loved their time in play school. Every day was a new story of songs and dancing most of which we got on repeat at home.”
“Couldn’t recommend it highly enough. My child went from a timid shy little boy to adventure seeking scientist in a year, can’t thank the team enough for all their kindness and help.”
“We couldn’t keep up with everything my wee girl got up to, she was up and ready to go every morning bursting to get in. Such a fun place and we felt so happy leaving her every day. Love it!”
