Essential Criteria
A Level 2 Child Care Learning and Development (CCLD) qualification, or Level 3 CCLD, or equivalent early years focused qualification.
Desirable Criteria

This is a 5 morning per week post, 26 hrs per week, £13.00 per hour, 9am to 2pm with one day to 3pm (TBC) for planning work. Feel free to contact us for information on monthly wage figures.
Job Description
The Playschool Assistant will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and support of learning activities for our pre-pre, Playschool Explorers, and pre-school, Playschool Pioneers, children during daily play sessions. The assistant will help ensure safe stimulating play and learning opportunities that will provide for the needs of the whole child.
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, stimulating group play to meet the social, linguistic, creative, physical, imaginative, emotional needs of each child.
- Establish productive working relationships with children, acting as a role model to foster a love of learning.
- Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all children within the Playschool.
- Organise appropriate learning environment and resources for play sessions.
- Select and prepare resources to take account of the children’s interests, language and cultural background.
- Establish constructive relationships with parents/carers, exchanging information, facilitating their support for their child’s attendance.
- Encourage all children to interact and work cooperatively with others and engage all children in activities.
- Ensure there is a good, happy atmosphere at each session.
- To manage resources effectively and ensure play areas are left tidy and ready for the next session.
- Take time to listen and respond to children and encourage them to develop.
- Provide information and advice to enable the children to make choices about their own behaviour.
- Take observations to assess the learning ability of the children and assist them in the developmental journey.
- Promote independence and employ strategies to recognise and reward achievement of self-reliance.
- Ensure the children are supervised at all times.
- Ensure Accident and Incident records are made should a relevant situation occur.
- Participate in training and other learning activities as appropriate.
- Take part in special events, outings and visits.
- Attend staff meetings.
- Advise the Playschool Leader of any matter requiring attention such as concerns about a child or if setting equipment needs repaired and replaced
- Provide support to the Playschool Leader to ensure that the setting maintains the highest standards.
- To work in conjunction with the Playschool Leader to resolve any difficulties that might arise during the day to day running of the setting, and to seek advice regarding these situations so as to maintain the necessary levels of integrity and confidentiality.
